Analyst (Crypto + AI)

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an analyst on the Crypto / AI team to help launch new ventures. The role reports to our team’s Venture Creation Senior Principal.

This person will work directly with Diagram Partners, potential founders and expert advisors to lead the ideation, evaluation, and de-risking of new ideas specifically in Crypto & AI. The analyst will play a key role in turning ideas into companies, and shaping Diagram’s Crypto & AI portfolio.

The Crypto/AI team’s focus was initially on building crypto companies like Conduit.financial and helika.io, but recently has expanded to work on generative AI businesses such as katara.ai and axleruns.com. We understand that not everyone has experience in both AI and crypto, but we encourage you to apply if either area is of interest to you.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing investment theses and perspectives on opportunity areas;
• Generating and pitch new venture ideas;
• Conducting user and market research, performing market sizing, analyzing competitive landscape, assessing business models and unit economics to evaluate potential ideas;
• Developing pitch decks and investment memos;
• Owning the work plan and leading the de-risking of ideas via pre-seed testing (in collaboration with engineering, product, growth, and other external experts);
• Pitching ideas to entrepreneurs, participate in the vetting process, and building close relationships with founders
• Contributing to building Diagram’s culture and brand in the Crypto + AI communities (e.g. attending startup community events, conferences, etc.)

You should have:

0-2+ years of work experience in relevant fields such as:

• Venture building at a venture studio;
• Early stage tech startup experience as a Founder, product manager, growth marketer, engineer, or other operational capacity, preferably in crypto or AI;
• Management/Strategy consulting or investment banking, focused on tech products / businesses
• Knowledge, experience, network or demonstrated in Crypto and/or AI (e.g. active partcipation in crypto/NFT/Defi investing + communities; experimenting with LLMs and AI-powered products; joining AI meetups, etc.)
• A track record of outstanding performance
• A proven entrepreneurial mindset, high degree of ownership and a self-starter mentality
  Intellectual curiosity and rigor
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) – comfortable pitching ideas and producing high-quality deliverables
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to build financial models, conduct market sizing
• A technical (Engineering, Computer Science, Economics) or Business degree
